Seagate Technology Holdings PLC, the new parent company of Seagate Technology PLC

Effective May 18th as per 8-K filing: https://d18rn0p25nwr6d.cloudfront.net/CIK-0001137789/7e8b5cd3-f8cc-458c-9ad7-2b1c4f22bbca.pdf

Here is the general SEC filing page on Seagate's website, in case the PDF link changes: https://investors.seagate.com/financials/sec-filings/default.aspx

Hoping to bring this to attention so someone more informed than myself about both how Wikipedia guidelines handle holding companies and this specific circumstance, as it is not a name change but seems more along the lines of Alphabet/Google. (And someone more able to read and understand the 8-K filing).

I'm thinking the type will need to be changed to "subsidiary" and I suppose a new page for Seagate Technology Holdings PLC would need to be created. Although there might not be enough information for that so simply stating that it is owned by them and noting the ticker and Irish residence might be more appropriate? The new company is traded under STX, what Seagate Technology PLC used to be traded as.

I'd also like to suggest removing Naki's comment above, as it appears off-topic. I'm new to Wikipedia talk pages so I don't want to remove it myself if someone else thinks it actually provides useful discussion but it appears more of a personal request rather than discussion on the page. If Naki wants to keep appraised of their products, he can check Seagate's site for their product listings and if he wants rumours, he can check up with tech news websites or visit more appropriate forums. If someone decides to remove the comment, please remove this paragraph. And if you see a reason to keep it, also please remove this paragraph.

It sounds like 444 pages of yet another tax minimizing reorganization, but for Wikipedia purposes I think all we need to recognize is:

Seagate Technology Holdings plc (“Holdings” or “Registrant”), a new Irish public limited company, will serve as the publicly traded parent company of Seagate Technology public limited company (“Seagate”), effective as of May 18, 2021

That is, the parent of Seagate is now Seagate Technology Holdings plc, an Irish public limited company and I will make the change.
I don't think removing Naki is appropriate see: WP:TPO. It will ultimately be archived. Tom94022 (talk) 20:06, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
