Many thousands of people in Europe and throughout the world trace their family name to Schönenberg - some called by variations of Schönenberger. I would greatly appreciate information about the history of Schönenberg - a Swiss historian told me that it is unlikely anyone with a family name more than a few hundred years old can be traced to Schönenberg, because this town is not many centuries old. Yet I find "cousins" from Germany tracing their family name to this town many centuries back. Could the naming of the area pre-date the naming of the town? What historical guidance can be given those seeing their roots in Schönenberg? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.69.77.150 (talk) 05:57, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
