The Paris society of independant artists -Société des Artistes Indépendants- stages annual exhibitions since 1884. But these were never a Salon, though called so variously. There is a separate page for this society. Both should be merged, and the Salon ... deleted. There was no such thing. --R.P.D. 02:13, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
