Hello Sue: Thank you for your help! The referencing is much cleaner now. I've modified the text to take out the "you / your" tone. Do you think it would make more sense to create a separate article titled "Conducting a Top-Down Risk Assessment" that is more technical in nature? The very guide you gave me cites a musical example, contrasting a technical article from a general one. What do you think? Farcaster 00:20, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Farcaster
- Glad to help, Farcaster! There are three references that still need to be inserted in the text, but I wasn't sure where best to put them, so if you could put them where they belong, that would help with verifying the information. I don't think you should make a separate article yet. I think this is your first contribution to Wikipedia -- and it's much appreciated -- but it's best to polish this a bit before spreading out. Take a look at some featured articles to get some idea what this article might become if carefully edited. Here are a few things to think about:
- I wikilinked "United States" in the opening paragraph because this article addresses something American. Wikipedia is international, so it's important to provide the reader with country context when it matters.
- The article's title will probably have to change soon, because it's too vague. You're writing about "SOX404 compliance risk assessment". "Top-down" is a generic term for "complete", and "risk assessment" has various English-language usages. The PCAOB and SEC use this general label within a very specific context, so it has a derived specific meaning. In Wikipedia, we need to give specific articles specific titles. I haven't moved the article to a more specific title because you're actively working on it, and I don't want to throw you off. We can move it to a more precise title when you've had time to polish it. You're quite right that it's a technical article, but you can work on it under this title for now.
- Please make sure that you haven't copied anything verbatim from a copyrighted source. I'm not accusing you of doing this, I'm simply asking you to make sure that the text you've added is not under copyright protection.
- I'm here to help you make this a great Wikipedia article, Farcaster! I'll pop in with edits and suggestions if needed. Thanks for all you're doing! --SueHay 01:46, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
