Hi there, I am happy to tell you that this article has passed GA without the need for any further improvement. Listed below is information on how the article fared against the Wikipedia:good article criteria, with suggestions for future development. These are not required to achieve GA standard, but they might help in future A-class or FAC review process. On a personal note, I realised as I read through this that I had mentioned this action before in an FA I wrote two years ago, Ronald Niel Stuart, who was on Farnborough later, so it was interesting to revisit the material.

  • It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose):   b (MoS):
Prose, as always, is of a high standard. I do have one suggestion, which is that the very short paragraph that begins "U-9 was laid down on . . ." would look better as the start of the paragraph below it.
"sent to sea under a more experienced U-boat captain to gain knowledge" is a little clumsy, mainly the word "knowledge". Experience is taken, but perhaps "knowledge of submarine warfare" might improve the phrasing?
  • It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references):   b (citations to reliable sources):   c (OR):
  • It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects):   b (focused):
  • It follows the neutral point of view policy.
a (fair representation):   b (all significant views):
  • It is stable.

  • It contains images, where possible, to illustrate the topic.
a (tagged and captioned):   b (lack of images does not in itself exclude GA):   c (non-free images have fair use rationales):
Obviously an image would be nice should you get hold of one. (Also, I don't know if you are aware, but the German national archives uploaded 10,000 free-use images to Wikimedia Commons the other week, which apparently include a number of First World War pictures and might be a fertile place to search for this kind of image).--Jackyd101 (talk) 23:52, 18 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
