Split Summary Section Vote

Okay, since the spilt for summaries has been up for a month and nobody has voiced any objection, I'm gonna go ahead and split it. JQF 19:20, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

Wow, I never saw that discussed on the talk page. Don't split. The summaries need to be condensed and kept as part of this entry. There have only been what? 36 issues? That doesn't warrant a separate entry. It'll just get merged again anyway. --Chris Griswold 20:36, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

Topher

Was Topher ever really a member of the team? I mean, he never got a chance to do anything, and everybody really hated him, he was like in the Hostel for like a few hours (relative). Opinions? Mishy dishy 22:23, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

I don't think he was ever part of the team, I believe they just brought him to the Hostel, like having a friend over. I think he should be taken off of the notable former members list.Silver lode

I'm re-adding Topher. With dialogue like "Welcome to the club" and "You're off the team" it seems clear to me that the Runaways DID consider him to be one of their own, even if he was on the team for only one night. Chase even called him the "new kid." -Sandoz 21:33, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

And how does that contradict Topher's status as a team member? Alex knew what Topher really was, but he still let him join the team. There was an entire story arc built around the "new kid"; he at least deserves a brief mention on the roster.Sandoz 20:48, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Please use {{tld|spoiler-solicitation}} when adding information gleaned from advertising, publicity, and solicitations. Runaways picture

I changed the picture for Runaways because it contained spoilers for the first volume. It spoiled who the mole was for me. I changed it so that the same doesn't happen to anyone else.

Even though there's also spoilers in the text of the document? Reverting, it's been several years since its publication and there is, at least in my opinion, a statute of limitations on "spoilers" -- Majin Gojira 23:04, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

If someone wants to spoil themselves by reading past the document spoiler tags then they can make a choice do to that. The picture has no spoiler tag. I wiki'd runaways because I had reached a point in the hardcover where the other artist had taken over and I was interested if that artist was remaining or not, and what I immediately saw was Alex missing. Big spoiler, very few people have read this book compared to the kind of audience that can enjoy it. It has not been several years since its publication, the first volume ended less than 2 years ago. It is selfish to want to keep a picture that discourages new readers from looking up information on the Runaways on Wikipedia because they don't want to be spoiled without a warning. I fully disagree. It's the kind of spoiler that's pretty much up there with "Luke, I am your father" in terms of "old hat", IMO. You can only whine about spoilers for so long--and I've seen people whine about Lord of the Rings spoilers when the books have been out for 60+ years. Some people believe that spoilers can 'ruin' a story, but this is a falsehood. A good story works regardless of the events that occur in them--it is how the events are handled that matters. Ok just chipping in my two cents, maybe there is a bit of a point to the image change... though the series has been out for a while, none the less though the picture now being used is horrible for the scope of the article. Beyond hair color of the characters it shows very little, you can't even see most of their faces, please either put up a cover pic, or something jeez its awful.--68.231.174.183 07:44, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

All right in case some of you guys haven't read the latest book yet, {{Spoiler}}... Nico was shot last issue, and while this makes it seem that she is the doomed Runaway, she is shown on the cover of the Civil War: Young Avengers/Runaways issue. Anybody have an opinion. I know that this isn't a blog and it would only be speculation, but I enjoy speculating with other fans, at least on talk pages.--Wakefencer 03:16, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

I'm almost 100 percent certain that Chase is the one who dies. Previews of issue 18 (three pages, none with dialogue written in yet) show him running into a burning building. But the actual reason I believe he is the one who croaks: he's 18. This is the story about kids living outside the system. But Chase no longer has to be a runaway, turning 18 means he can do what he wants with his life. If you want more speculation on this, check out brian k vaughan's site, he has a TERRIFIC forum that he attends to religiously, way too much for a guy who has 4 books to write monthly :P 70.71.162.88 06:55, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

I'll tell you why it won't be Chase: Vaughn planted a character detail with Chase, about killing a person. Plus, Nico and Gert figured out who team leader will be when Nico dies, plus Chase has used the Staff of Fun to stop the fake Cloak. Xavin is not a team member

He just makes out with Karolina. I don't think he has a Runaways Identibadge™ to get into Runaways Mansion™. (Identibadge and Mansion are nonsense). Not really, but you do have a point. Victor was not considered a memeber, really, until his second arc appearance where he fought supervillains with the rest of the Runners. I think it means that you have to be flexible and willing to change, ie adaptable. As such, I think Old Lace sould probably go under Gert, as OL is an extention of her (in a way). And wasn't Topher officially called a member? JQF 23:09, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

As of issue 18, Xavin lists himself as a Runaway AND fights supervillains alongside them. My criteria are met, but will withhold changes in the article to refrain from (most) spoilers. -- Majin Gojira 18:35, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

The main criteria to be a runaway is to have RAN AWAY. duh. can't believe that can be argued over. Having evil parents is what makes them interesting and gave the original team reason to run away. Xavin is a runaway because him and Karolina can no longer return to their planets. As long as they're together he will be with her -- he will be the runaway Skrull prince. Just e-mail Brian K Vaughn. First of all, it doesn't help to be rude. Comments like "duh" don't make the conversation go anywhere positive. Additionally, this argument is over a month old, and we came to an agreement, partially aided by the fact that he has been referred to as a member of the group in the comics. Finally, there is a difference between someone running away and being a member of the titular group. They've argued before about accepting new people and have voiced regret over having done so in the past. Chase Stein Article Deleeted!

It now redirects here. No one seemed to notice its Vote for Deleetion page in over a month! How did that happen!? I smell something fishy, so I reverted it and bring it up to your attention. Runaways bios

Fixed several typos in the bios on the front page. (Punctuation, "Guidence" ---> Guidance", etc.) Also, Chase left the team because they disagreed over what to do with Gert's body, not where to bury it. I also altered the descriptions of the Pride (Nico is the daughter of "dark wizards" rather than "magicians") to match up with the profiles on the "Previously" page of the comic book.

Also, "Runaways" should be capitalized since it is the official "team" name and thus a proper noun. Sandoz 21:09, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Please cite the use of the team name in the series. The situation is similar to that of Birds of Prey, in that, while promotional or Who's Who material and fans might have referred to them as the Birds of Prey for ease in discussion, the name isn't even mentioned or considered until recently, right before the One Year Later jump. Before that, characters just referred to them in connection to Oracle. Likewise, the characters in Runaways, while referred to as having run away, are usually called the "Pride's kids", "that group of kids in LA", etc. They never say, "Hey, green guy! Join the Runaways!" No one tells them, "Hey, Runaways! If you registered, that would be awesome! Thanks!" Chris Griswold 09:16, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Good call, Majin Gojira. That article makes mention that "Birds of Prey" was not mentioned until recently, and that it is not the name of the team. It then proceeds to say things like "Oracle's operatives" or address the characters by name. --Chris Griswold 13:35, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Alex Wilder

Just skimmed the plot summary and its really not big enough on this character. I think it should be stated he was their leader and how much of a shock it was to them (and some readers) and the repercussions to today, as I'd expect with Gertrude's death.— ChocolateRoses ^talk
