Changing Riot Police page from a redirect to an article in its own right edit

I find it surprising that the riot police page has existed merely as a redirect to riot control since 2004. This does not seem totally appropriate to me. The rather technological focus of the riot control article has already been noted in the discussion for that page. This makes it an appropriate re-direct for riot gear but I do not believe it to be an appropriate redirect for "riot police" which might involve a broader focus on the historical, sociological and political phenomenon of riot police beyond the mere technology of riot control. There already exist wikipedia pages on specific riot police organisations like the Compagnies Républicaines de Sécurité but there is no page on riot police in general. So I'm going to get this page started as an article stub with a basic definition and an appropriate "See Also" section linking to related topics like riot, riot control etc. Seferin (talk) 12:27, 4 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Opinions vs Fact edit

A change I made has been reverted without reason given. I removed the peace about how "some people have noticed the militarization of riot police in recent times" this had no relivance in an informational article so I removed it for a lack of sources and it's clearly opinion based content. I don't think it belongs in the article at all but I think it should atleast be moved to a sub article separate from the opening paragraph of the article. Am I wrong on this?
