Talk:Relative standard deviation

The notation rsd

edit

The disambiguation page RSD lists rsd as the (supposedly) single abbreviation or notation for relative standard deviation, but the actual article does not, listing RSD and %RSD instead. JöG (talk) 12:14, 27 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Isn't this the same as "coefficient of variation"?

edit

Coefficient of variation is SD / mean. SD is always positive. Most measured quantities are positive. So coefficient of variation is mostly posistive anyway. If I understand this correctly Relative standard deviation is different from the coefficient of variation in the rare case when a quantitz of negative mean is measured. If so, then I believe this had to be made clear in the article. -- GB 194.82.50.2 (talk) 10:37, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
