Strongest last sets

edit

I have to remind that both Wishes and such deck defining cards as Decree of Justice and Eternal Dragon came from the last set in the expansion. As far as my opinion goes, I'd kill the whole paragraph discussing how the last set is inferior to the others. Cyberodin

I removed the section. It's totally irrelevant to Ravnica and probably original reserach as well. Croctotheface 06:43, 10 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Note that although the full title of the set is Ravnica: City of Guilds, the title of the article is simply Ravnica. This is in keeping with Wikipedia's naming conventions, which favor common usage when determining how to title an article, and writing out the full name in the article's body (see Frankenstein or Moll Flanders for an example). Note that in his article introducing the official Ravnica previews, the set's own lead designer, Mark Rosewater, does not once use the "City of Guilds" portion of the title and simply calls it "Ravnica" throughout, even though the article is essentially official Wizards of the Coast promotion for the set. Please respect this convention. Andrew Levine 07:16, 5 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

"Interesting" cards?

edit

What on earth criteria are used for determining the "interesting cards"? Is Ordruun Commando more notable than Dimir Doppelganger, Plague Boiler or Doubling Season? We ought to find some external metric of what makes a card notable, but in the meantime, sort this list to something more interesting than than a random Minotaur. --AlexChurchill 13:15, 24 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

  • I've looked up the previous sets and see that most have had these requirements. They have had an impact on tournament play (eg. Arcbound Ravenger), or were heavily anticipated (eg. Cranial Extraction), or on 'other interesting cards' they have unusual effects and/or are popular in casual play (eg. Mind Slaver, Deranged Hermit).Greyhead 14:28, 27 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Lightning Helix

edit

I took out a part for the section on Lightning Helix. It said that a could make a six-point life swing, but if you look at the card it says "Lightning Helix deals 3 damage to target creature", not "Lightning Helix deals 3 damage to target creature or player".

So, what should we add to Lightning Helix's section? Is it fine as it stands?

lightning helix deals damage to players...

Oops, must've read it wrong. Sorry!

My edits to the "Interesting Cards" sections

edit

I removed a large number of the cards because they strike me as not notable. All the guild leaders and lieutenants are not notable simply by virtue of who they are. I tried to leave only cards that are unique or tournament staples such that a player who wanted to learn about the set would start with those cards. I also made some minor edits to deal with POV issues, but a lot more needs to be done in that respect. Croctotheface 20:24, 17 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
