Getting started on this one. —Ed!(talk) 02:08, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

GA review (see here for criteria) (see here for this contributor's history of GA reviews)
  1. It is reasonably well written:
What was the original square footage of the space?
How much did it cost to build?
The square footage and cost isn't explicitly mentioned in any of the sources I've seen so far. I will try to look for a source that mentions this, but literature from this time focus mostly on the high society. epicgenius (talk) 04:20, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
Any idea of the number of employees required to run the operation?
    I got a figure of 250 employees as of 1999. epicgenius (talk) 04:20, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
Any word on the menu of the original restaurant? As far as food, perhaps it was a relatively typical of the period place, but if there was any kind of drink that was well known there or a kind of food that merited the high prices, might be good to mention something.
I added some details about the food in the '60s and the '80s. epicgenius (talk) 21:37, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
The "design" section might be better served higher up in the article. The references in the history of the facility, as is, come off a bit unexpected otherwise. The purple coloring is mentioned without an established significance, for instance.
The thing is, there would be even more lack of context if I were to swap the sections, since the "design" section mentions several figures that are introduced in the "History" section. Instead, I just removed that mention of the purple walls. epicgenius (talk) 21:37, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
The menu section: This is the modern, post-2012 restaurant, I assume? That should be established.
    I clarified it. epicgenius (talk) 21:37, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
Is there anything from Zagat that can be included in "Reception?"
    I added some info. epicgenius (talk) 04:20, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
In a larger sense, it might be good to add a few historic reviews too, or at lease make it clear that section only deals with the current business. Generally trying to avoid recentism there, especially when we're talking about a venue that has operated for a very long time.
I am looking for historic reviews. The literature of the time tends to focus more on the events that went on in there. I found some articles in the New York Times that I will add tomorrow. epicgenius (talk) 04:20, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable:
    Plenty of references here.
  3. It is broad in its coverage:
I suspect there could be more on notable diners and performances, but the current article is more than enough for GA.
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy:
    No problems there.
  5. It is stable:
    No problems there.
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate:
Images on the article are well-cited and no problems copyright-wise.
  7. Other:
Ref links, dup links, dab links and copyvio tools all return no problems.
Source spotcheck: Refs 12, 65 and 84 all line up with what is attributed in the article.

On Hold Pending a few fixes. —Ed!(talk) 02:35, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Ed!: I was able to fix most of the issues you raised. I am still trying to resolve the first two issues you brought up, but it's very hard because, again, most literature tends to focus on the social life. epicgenius (talk) 21:37, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
Sounds good. If you can't find them, just let me know. —Ed!(talk) 01:11, 9 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Ed!: All the sources that have written about the Rainbow Room just don't seem to care how much it cost to build, or how large it is. Only the recent literature describes the square footage of the restaurant. And the only prices I can find are a bunch of food prices. epicgenius (talk) 23:10, 9 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
Sounds good, we'll just have to do without then. Thanks! —Ed!(talk) 13:54, 10 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
