Purbeck Limestone Formation edit

There is a Purbeck Limestone Formation. Any reason why it should be separate? FunkMonk (talk) 19:00, 26 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

We also have Purbeck Marble. Is this right? FunkMonk (talk) 01:58, 14 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Geological period edit

Just curious - my geological map of the UK (1979, Ordnance Survey for the Institute of Geological Sciences, scale about 1 inch to 10 miles) shows the Purbeck formation as unambiguously Jurassic, whereas it is now described as Upper Jurassic to Lower Cretaceous. So I wonder what has happened since 1979 to change the classification. Or does the text of this article imply some continuing uncertainty?109.158.133.165 (talk) 13:13, 2 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

The latest view on this bit of stratigraphy is this report. Mikenorton (talk) 23:44, 16 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
