Nobody else has provided any explanation as to what ptomaine is. The ones that were previously made were very poorly written. I believe some of the attention is because of the James Garfield (U.S. 20th President) article, wondering what kind of mysterious thing this "ptomaine" is.
It may be short, but its better than nothing I think, and someone can always expand further.
