Rename?

edit

Should we rename this article to Provisional ballot in the United States since it currently has a global tag? RJFJR (talk) 20:09, 22 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

I've not actually heard of provisional ballots (or equivalent) being used outside the US. It's certainly possible that I'm ignorant on the issue, but I wouldn't suggest moving the article until that question has been answered. I've tagged the article for needing an expert. Let's see if anyone responds. Electiontechnology (talk) 21:31, 22 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps you could just add something like "A provisional ballot, often referring to a provisional ballot in the United States, ... "169.235.12.9 (talk) 02:51, 7 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

In the UK there is a similar procedure called a "tendered ballot". However, this is only used for situations where a voter is counted as already having voted, not for voters who are trying to vote without being registered. As such, they are not counted at all under normal circumstances, but are retained as evidence in case the election result is challenged. – Smyth\talk 11:48, 6 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

It appears that the links to the 2004 EAC report and the 2006 EAC report are broken. Patphilly (talk) 22:00, 23 November 2012 (UTC).Reply

Voter caging

edit

"One method used and misused is the practice of voter caging"

I believe this should be removed or amended to indicate it is illegal in the united states and has been since 1965, this seems to indicate it is still a common practice and I would have to believe if it was illegal it would not be.
