Plagiarism

Hi I am changing the last paragraph of this article as it is verbatim copied from my text book.

The sentence structure, number, and order is identical to my text, with perhaps 4 words having been added or changed (i.e. 'sometimes' instead of 'may have to'.

Infections

It would be good to have a section on methods for treating protozoan infections. This is not appropriate vocabulary for this context. Please modify and improve it. RyanTMulligan 15:18, 28 July 2007 (UTC) i just want to see some more detailed pictues of the structure of protozoa —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.157.189.54 (talk) 15:29, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Clarification?

i think i have made part of the section more understandable.

Yes you did. Thank you. Zrs 12 (talk) 19:04, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

How can this article state that "The term protozoa is generally not used in modern scientific contexts," when the page for Biological classification lists "Protozoa" as one of the 6 Kingdoms under the Cavalier-Smith model, which is dated 2004 and is the most recent model listed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.229.98.8 (talk) 14:38, 19 March 2011 (UTC)

You are right, I will remove the sentence. Alexander ktn (talk) 11:36, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Nor are they archaeans

Since protists are eukaryotes, they're not archaeans, so I changed the first paragraph to reflect that. Chira (talk) 22:11, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Singular form

Is protozoan really the singular form? Protozoon is the grammatically correct form, protozoan is correct for adjectival use, but not as a singular form of the noun.--5telios (talk) 00:36, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

There is a singular noun "protozoon", with plural "protozoa". There is also the adjective "protozoan", which can be used as a (singular) noun – meaning "protozoon" – and then has the plural "protozoans".  --Lambiam 16:39, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Animalia/Metazoa same thing?

However, protozoa are neither Animalia nor Metazoa (with the possible exception of the enigmatic, moldy Myxozoa).

Animalia = Metazoa? Jack (talk) 13:06, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

according to some sources, animalia is divided into protozoans ( unicellular organisms), parazoans (cellular organisms) and metazoans( multicellular organisms)

organization, this page

First of all, is all that stuff at the top really all that helpful. And can't it be made more succint. Second, and this applied to all article talk pages (discussion), wouldn't it be better to place to most recent, and therefore most relevant, comments at the top rather than "hiding" them at the bottom where the obsolete should go. Kingdom Protozoa

According to Thomas Cavalier-Smith Protozoa is one of the six kingdoms of life Only six kingdoms of life. This is generally followed by other recent taxonomies. Defining subtaxa, even those within the scope of kingdom, such as Rhizaria as being a kingdom is probably in error. J.H.McDonnell (talk) 21:38, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Can you please clarify this, because it sounds very strange for a layman.Thanks.Stefan Udrea (talk) 08:49, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

Why is there no taxobox in Protozoa?

Why is there no taxobox in Protozoa? I'm happy to add one, but its absence struck me as odd, and I thought I'd ask first. Is the place of Protozoa in the taxonomic tree contentious in some way? Ben morphett (talk) 06:13, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

protozoa : sub- kingdom or phylm

can protozoa be classified as both sub-kingdom and phylum? or is it just a phylum under kingdom animalia along with parazoas and metazoas

Nothing about pellicles?

I thought that the pellicle was a feature of protozoa that was missing from this article. The Pellicle article was a stub, so I thought why not bring them together.

Techniques stipulated for a mystery problem that isn't mentioned!

"The term protozoan has become highly problematic due to the introduction of modern ultrastructural, biochemical, and genetic techniques."

How the problem came about is explained in the above sentence, but nowhere is the nature of the problem mentioned??? (Is it that they can't be nicely fit into the Kingdom/Phyla organization pattern, are they both plants and animals, or what?)

The quote above is of secondary importance, and shouldn't be there. You've put the cart before the horse.
