Population figure

edit

The population of 207,100 in the infobox is incorrect - that is the total population of Portsmouth including the areas north of Portsea Island. List of islands of the British Isles gives a figure of 147,088 without an explicit source, but I assume it is derived from lower-level census figures. 86.153.116.249 (talk) 08:25, 19 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

The 2021 census figures by ward are available at https://www.ons.gov.uk/datasets/TS001/editions/2021/versions/3/filter-outputs/dde2e76e-93ea-4d2d-886c-fe852b103dc3#get-data The total for all Portsmouth wards is 208,001. From https://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/election-maps/gb/ the wards on the mainland are Cosham, Drayton and Farlington and Paulsgrove. These wards total 42,753 so Portsea Island is 165,248.
