Talk:PolarTREC

Also I don't think it's an orphan anymore but if you can find another page that's similar that you could insert a link to PolarTREC in, that would help. I did it on one other page so it shouldn't say it's an orphan anymore though. Asiwak (talk) 17:34, 20 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I will elaborate on the expeditions section if someone else can add studies that PolarTREC has contributed to. Not sure where to find how they select teachers/researchers...Yamini? Asiwak (talk) 17:24, 20 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

The info about how teachers are selected requires a few minor corrections, so I will do those. Also, there are other Teacher-Researcher experiences that are out there, with similar intentions but other specific areas of focus. I will see if any of those are on Wikipedia already and will link to those if so. As for the news, did anyone catch the story on NPR this morning about an upcoming PolarTREC to Antarctica with a CPS teacher? There are also quite a few other instances of PolarTREC teachers and expeditions in the news which I will find and bring with me today so everyone can review them. To add to this page, I think that it would be a good idea to look up PolarTREC in the news to elaborate on the "expeditions" section. It also may be interesting to cite specific studies that PolarTREC research has contributed to and discuss how/why it was important. Also, maybe we could discuss how teachers/researchers are chosen for this program, although I'm not sure that there would be enough there to create a new category. I'll look into PolarTREC in the news. Also I am trying to remedy the "orphan" situation. Carlysmiller (talk) 23:47, 19 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

I found the information on picking teachers, I added a new section to the wiki called teacher experience. I moved the part I put in the overview down to this section.Carlysmiller (talk) 20:51, 20 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Carly, what did you mean by "Using the message boards and journals, teachers can document what the students get excited about and how they learn."?? Abayarde108 (talk) 17:23, 21 May 2013 (UTC)Abayarde108Reply

Fixed it! I meant that the data could be used to write curriculum. Carlysmiller (talk) 19:54, 21 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
