Why is it here? Shouldn't the information be on the Types of Pokémon Moves page? There's really no reason why weather (such a small part of the franchise) should get its own section here when stat-altering moves and status effects don't. SubStandardDeviation 03:55, 27 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
- It's moslty b/c when this section was housed on Pokémon game mechanics it fit better than in any other section. But you're prolly right and the weather section info would be best included on Types of Pokémon moves. -ΖαππερΝαππερ BabelAlexandria 18:27, 28 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
- OK, if no one objects I'm removing it. (Again.) SubStandardDeviation 04:40, 6 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
According to the damage formula referenced in the article, the STAB boost comes after damage is calculated, and would not multiply the POW by 1.5, but the damage itself.
The formula in question is:
Damage = ((((2 * Level / 5 + 2) * ATK * POW / DEF) / 50) + 2) * STAB * WeakorResist * RND / 100
where RND is a number between 85 and 100, inclusive.

Currently, the first sentence reads: "Pokémon moves are the attacks that Pokémon can learn." (emphasis added). Personally, I think this is misleading. Even though it is explained later in the article that some moves do no damage, the introduction is meant to essentially summarize the article, so this should probably be changed. I think a good way to put it would be "attacks and strategies" (strategies meaning things like healing, defending, etc.), or even "attacks, strategies, and other actions". - I realize that "Ability" is another specific term in the franchise, but I was bold and changed the first sentance to read thus: "Pokémon moves are the abilities that Pokémon can use in battle."
- Thoughts? --Sparky Lurkdragon 05:40, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
- I wouldn't have any objections if "ability" wasn't an official term in the franchise that refers to a different concept. How about "Technique"?—ウルタプ 05:41, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
- I think Technique works well here: "Pokémon moves are the techniques that Pokémon can use in (and sometimes out of) battle." Since you can use moves like Rock Smash, Sweet Scent, and Surf outside of battle, too. -JC 07:30, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
- Technique - yes, that's perfect. :) --Sparky Lurkdragon 09:40, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
