What is the difference between pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion?

Emphasis on O
2-rich environment
edit
I've noticed that this article has a great emphasis on the corrosion developed in a O2-rich environment, which paints the wrong picture regarding pitting corrosion. Pitting corrosion also occurs on O2-deprived environments such as the case of chloride ion corrosion, which is one of the most common problems affecting reinforced concrete structures place in marine and even litoral environments. -- Mecanismo | Talk 17:56, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
- @Mecanismo: It is a very relevant remark. I also had the idea in mind from perhaps another perspective (the deep geological disposal of high-level radioactive waste) and I agree with your comment. I have extended the content of the page and also added a new section entitled Influence of redox conditions. If you still have comments, or ideas and arguments to develop, I will be happy to discuss them here. :-) Shinkolobwe (talk) 12:45, 14 February 2022 (UTC)
