This page is currently pretty limited in terms of scope. Pilot holes and pilots are used in a much wider set of contexts than what is currently described. For instance, SAE International has at least one standard that deals with pilots for fans. The McGraw-Hill Dictionary of Technical and Scientific Terms also given a number of definitions that are not all currently reflected in this article.
