The infringing content is the text immediately below the History header, down until the double line break. The stuff after that is Wikipedia original content. I've removed the infringing content and put it on the temporary page.
<rant>The way Wikipedia handles copyrighted material kind of sucks. I realize that the old revisions also need to be deleted, but do you really need to put that HUGEGANTIC notice on the page and tell people to stop editing it?</rant>
Don't worry about it, 90.204.237.221. Mistakes happen.--Theymos (talk) 04:28, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Images

The owner of Pet Rock Net has released these images under the GNU FDL:

The first one is uploaded and integrated into the temporary page. I've already done the OTRS email thing, so you should just have to upload them when you want to use them.--Theymos (talk) 23:30, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the images. But they're all so blurry? -- 69.181.129.174 (talk) 05:21, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

USB Pet Rocks

USB Pet Rocks should probably be mentioned. ThinkGeek.com has them and can be reached by the previous link. The package of these looks the same as the original.

Apparently, this has been added now. -- 69.181.129.174 (talk) 05:21, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

That was advertising and I removed it. --186.136.64.54 (talk) 03:27, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

1975/1973?

The article starts "In April 1975, Dahl was in a bar... ...This gave him the idea..." The next section mentions that the fad lasted about six months, ending around Dec. 1975. However, the very next paragraph says "In 1973, Dahl established Rock Bottom Productions, a company that sold the rocks for US$3.98 each." I don't think he would have established that company two years before he had the idea for the pet rock. Anyone with info care to fix this? 76.111.17.151 (talk) 03:18, 3 October 2011 (UTC)

Merge with Gary Dahl

Gary Dahl doesn't seem to be sufficiently noteworthy, beyond the pet rock and a few awards to have his own separate article. While the pet rock and Gary Dahl are both significant, the articles are relatively small, highly-related, redundant at points, and I think they should be merged. If there is a consensus, I would ask that someone do it as I do not know how. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.89.192.122 (talk) 22:50, 5 January 2013 (UTC)

Unsorted

The last para/sentence "The advent of electronic toys gave a new boost to the idea: a Ragin' Rocky talking rock from Playmates Toys." looks and sounds pretty much out of place. More oddity in it are the words "Ragin' Rocky" and "Playmates Toys" which make the line look more like vandalism than a meaningful entry for the topic Pet Rock.

I suggest you to use google before jumping to conclusions. Mikkalai 15:39, 31 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I have a pet rock her name is Rockzanne. My best friend has a rock too. His name is Larry. Our other friend has a rock that's name is Billy who's related to Larry the rock. Rockzanne and Larry are expecting twins, L.J. (Larry Jr.) and R.J. (Rockzanne Jr.) - Moved from Article —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.14.89.245 (talkcontribs) 07:27, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

The above "I have a pet rock .... and R.J. (Rockzanne Jr.)," was vandalism, which apparently 82.14.89.245 did not realize. It should have simply been deleted. __209.179.29.71 (talk) 15:23, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

Strange Behaviour

I knew of people who got pet rocks as gag gifts. They kept them as a joke, and then found that they could not throw them away. Some how the rocks had transitioned in their minds to the organic pet status. They now sleep peacefully in storage closets. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:2D80:8821:0:D88:7821:B50E:9BF3 (talk) 02:54, 14 December 2015 (UTC)
