Seasonality definition on Lokad.com

edit

I have posted a seasonality definition on Lokad.com. See http://www.lokad.com/definition-seasonality.ashx In particular, the article is illustrated with real-world seasonal time-series taken from retail. Those illustrations might be of interest to the readers. --Joannes Vermorel (talk) 16:47, 6 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

* Not clear that "seasonality", "seasonal variation", "periodic variation", and "periodic fluctuations" are synonyms here.

  • Missing reference on seasonal plot.
  • The seasonal index is not a graphical technique. Delete this dot point.
  • Second last para in "Detecting seasonality" should be deleted as erroneous and misleading.
  • Reference formating needs fixing.

Dr. Hyndman is wonderful here, and may not even be (often) consciously aware of the simple, abstract "binary oppositional" exploits of those elements of society who want to push seasonality itself, to a stark extreme in order to have a monopoly on the collective consciousness regarding matters of unwavering binarist ideology. This is why multifactorial thinking, which by its eminently more complex nature tends to be "de-seasonalizing," is a must in order to keep proper paradigmatic discourse in a position of power -over- seasonality and the gross oversimplifications that can unfortunately result from it. Cheers. Excellent talk page too!!
