Ferropericlase/magnesiowüstite

There seems to be a lack of agreement regarding the naming of solid solutions. In an earlier version, I had referred to the Mg-rich minerals of the periclase-wüstite solid solution series as ferropericlase, but this was misinterpreted by User:Vsmith in an subsequent edit as referring to an Fe-rich mineral. In practice, both terms seem to be used as synonyms in the literature, so I have removed the pertinent remarks on the naming and clarified that in the text about the lower mantle, it is indeed an Mg-rich solid solution. If someone decides to remark on the naming, it would be desirable to provide a reference to an official mineralogical organization; I haven't been able to find something useful that reflects actual use.--TomR (talk) 01:30, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

Seems my earlier edit was due to a mis-interpretation, sorry 'bout that. I've added a couple of refs and a link to the existing ferropericlase stub article. Vsmith (talk) 02:05, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
