Name derivation

edit

Although this is scarcely definitive, the Cornish writer S.M.C. (Sister Mary Catherine) in her novel Once in Cornwall (Longmans, Green 1944) set in the 13th century, uses the name in the form Penni-come-qwic. As a Dominican nun deeply versed in Cornish history, I doubt she would have done so if she thought that it derived from a doubtless more recent pub name, and it seems to me much more likely that the pub was named after its locality. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 51.198.55.125 (talk) 14:52, 6 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
