Hi, when I was writing the article, I came across this problem - some sources spelt it Peerie and some spelt it Perie. For example the OS (responsible for mangling names all over the British Isles), spells it with two "e"s rather than three. --MacRusgail 15:50, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

You'll always find that problem with names in Shetland.
Anytime I want a good laugh I just look for place names on the OS map ;-)

Many times these old maps have a more accurate spelling than the new ones. If you haven't used the site before it can take a bit of getting used to because places you would expect to find in the location lists like Lerwick, aren't there. But worth a look at, it's fun and informative.
Any time you have a problem with a Shetland name, just bung a question on my talk page and I should be able to help, or at least try :-)
