A note

Does anybody know where the "bernhardus" name comes from? In French, it's called "Bernard l'Ermite", but French Wikipedia was of no help either. 132.206.67.166 20:41, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

About Mediterranean Sea ?

I just do not understand why it's written that it does not live in the Mediterranean sea. The Med

Im currently using Pagurus bernhardus for my dissertation and haven't yet read anything yet that mentions this particular species being found in the Med. Varieties of P. bernhardus

• There are at least two varieties one with orange antennae and another one with blue turquoise antennae. Are there sources noticing this?

moreover never seen them filter-feeding, but seen them refreshing the eggs they keep in the shell and expose it to the water current.

The article needs more on their social relations, like stealing shells from one another and a group shifting shell, and relations with anenomes and it seems several tide pool invertebrates, including this, have a special preference and symbiotic relation with the anemone Aulactinia verrucosa, who seek them for protection.

I pretty much love these animals and keep them in aquaria.

- please do not keep them if you dont know how to set-up a proper marine aquaria and will easily die and suffer a lot if not properly adapted, they need at least 3-hours adapation depending on salinity, needs drop-by-drop adaptation, they are really cute (needs a pic in the article) and dont deserve the suffering. --Pedro (talk) 11:21, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
