I suggest to update this article as below with minor edits for language and updated information (the list of PITZ collaboration partners was outdated -> rather than double-keeping the list here, a link now points to the most up-to-date one on the web). Not done for now: The only difference in text appears to be "The PITZ collaboration involves several accelerator centres and institutes from around the world." Could you provide a better quality source for this? PK650 (talk) 10:10, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
- The idea is to try and avoid double-bookkeeping and point to the PITZ website for the most current list of participating institutes. The Photo Injector Test Facility at the DESY location in Zeuthen (PITZ) was built in 2002 in order to test and optimize sources of high-brightness electron beams for future free-electron lasers (FELs) and linear colliders. The focus at PITZ is on the production of intense electron beams with very small transverse emittance and reasonably small longitudinal emittance which are required in order to meet the high-gain conditions of FEL operation. This challenge is met by applying the most advanced techniques in combination with key parameters of projects based on TESLA technology, such as FLASH and the European XFEL.
