the previous version makes no sense at all. the usage of PCDATA in XML is well defined, therefore I'm simply rephrasing the standard here.
the original meaning of PCDATA in SGML should be included, however SGML is ancient and the internet doesn't have a good reference; the ISO standard for SGML isn't freely available.
