Thanks for starting this article Gloverepp - it's been on my to-do list for sometime so I'm really pleased that someone else has taken the initiative as this is such a unique feature and was a glaring gap in the Canal du Midi coverage. I've created a WP:LEAD for the article & added some cites back to Rolt's "From Sea to Sea" - probably the definitive modern authority on the canal. I have a copy to hand and it has quite a detailed section on the Libron crossing - particularly the mechanics of the operation - and will add more later. I have also corrected the date of the opening of the present structure which is stated by Rolt to be 1855. Best, Nancy talk 07:49, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
