Genesis Group
editThe Genesis Group article asserts it is an auxiliary of the LDS church. Is this an official auxiliary or a social organization. Anyone have info? WBardwin 05:23, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
- The talk referenced in the article from a 2005 Ensign is explicit that there are 5 auxiliary organizations in the LDS Church: Relief Society, Sunday School, Young Men, Young Women and Primary: Richard G. Scott, “The Doctrinal Foundation of the Auxiliaries” Ensign, Aug 2005, 62–67.
- That being said, I know the Genesis Group was established by the church and it is considered to be an "official" church organization. It probably shouldn't be described as an "auxiliary" since this seems to now have a specialized and distinct meaning. It's probably more comparable to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir or the Church Educational System—official LDS Church organizations, but not "auxiliaries" in the strict sense. Does that make sense? You called it a "social organization", and that's probably closer to the truth. –SESmith 07:22, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Requested move

The result of the proposal was PAGE MOVED per discussion below. -GTBacchus(talk) 02:40, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
Article was inappropriately moved to non-naming convention friendly names. The proper name using WP:LDSMOS naming conventions would be Auxiliary organization (LDS Church). (It was previously at Auxiliary organization, which could have used a DAB term, but person who moved it failed to research proper DAB term before moving it.) Snocrates 05:18, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
- Support per nomination, or at least be renamed to LDS Church auxiliary organizations (since the Mormon church is a US-based church). TJ Spyke 10:52, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Name change
editThe church has announced that the term "auxiliary" is being dropped in favor of the term "organization." The article name should be changed to reflect that. The article should retain a reference to the prior usage of the term "auxiliary." Specere (talk) 20:32, 7 October 2019 (UTC)
