Merge to Gas engine edit
This appears to be an obscure alternative name for early gas engines.

Not exactly- the oil field engine refers to a specific type of internal combustion engine-those used for pumping oil wells and powering other associated equipment. I plan on greatly expanding this article. nah5102 (talk) 04:08, 27 April 2013 (UTC)
If the prime movers used in oil field applications running on gaseous fuels, there is no problems. However, if such prime movers use liquid fuels (i.e., crude oil), then discrepancy occurs. Hence, my suggestion is to base an article on the nature of fuels used (i.e., solid, liquid, or gaseous) or nature of combustion (i.e., internal vs. external).
