Gothic? edit
Could the 'double' relationship between O'Brien and Winston be due to Orwell showing a Gothic influence? They are presented as polar opposites, and explicit mention is made of their apparent symbiosis (or at least Winston's perception of it.) --81.159.161.115 (talk) 22:41, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
Emma Goldman edit
Emma Goldman should at least be mentioned as probably having inspired the name "Emmanuel Goldstein"; many web sites support this suspicion. I haven't edited this into the article myself because I'm not aware of a suitable definitive citation, but it's likely that at least one exists. 73.53.44.165 (talk) 20:34, 24 February 2014 (UTC)
