I don't understand why MINESTRONE SOUP removed this section from the discussion. I am acting on good faith but MINESTROME SOUP insulted me by calling me a zealot which is nothing but a prejudicial slur. Then he resorted to relocating this new ground breaking information on 666 to the bottom so people will not notice it because he views me with prejudicial eyes because he has called me a zealot. I am not advertising anything. It seems that MINESTRONE SOUP doesn’t want this subject to be discussed here.

I am just providing new information on this subject of 666 for possible inclusion into the main article for people to discuss here and that is what Wikipedia is for. This subject has not been touched yet here and none of the sites above belong to me personally although I am interested in this subject. I tried to change my name from "MofBeast" to "EnduranceRace" for those who may think someone else was editing my remarks. 1. The "calculator 666" website seems to be shown a fair few times; perhaps this may be an honest mistake, but I removed it for the reason of "link spamming".

I say; do you even know the meaning of "fair"? It means something that is "just". The word "justice" comes from the root word "just". And "few" means not many. You are saying that something that is not discussion board abuse is "link spamming" and therefore "bad" when he did nothing bad at all.

1. The information added is actually counter-constructive, and more libellous than helpful -- merely listing rather arbitrarily claims of what 666 symbolises doesn't actually help us improve the article, nor does it explain any of the conclusions provided in a logical mathematical proceedure, as the format of the data provided jumps randomly from radians, telephone code, integers etc.

I will not post my professional opinion on the accuracy of the website or the topic, as this, for me I a purely theological discussion. It is not "link spamming" if the link goes to a site that is on the subject discussed here being 666. The links provided were on the subject of 666 that support the topic being discussed. Link spamming would be adding a link to a site that was totally off topic. Neron Caesar

I don't know where they got the idea that this works. Neron - his name, Caesar - title. True, it became synonymous as being part of the actual name, but still. And even yet, there are alternatives, for one thing, at most the word Caesar in Hebrew is spelled with at least one additional letter -- "yod" "י" if not two, which is the more conventional. 666 in old testament removed from article. Why?

From 1 Kings:

14. Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was 666 talents of gold, 15 besides that which came from the explorers and from the business of the merchants, and from all the kings of the west and from the governors of the land.

This seems like critical information. The phrase "Let he who has wisdom" suggests that some text related with wisdom (like the Bible) is being used as the cipher for a code. Why was it removed? --Ryan Wise 14:15, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

The fact that the same number appears in the Old Testament is demonstratably factual, and not subject to dispute. Do you think that it's a coincidence? You're welcome to add evidence to support that angle. The existance of the citation that I gave is fact. Try googling "Solomon 666" and you'll see that this issue has been noted and addressed numerous times, enough to be included as a popular reference, if nothing else. Also the Holy Scriptures says that YEHOVAH told Solomon that since he prayed for Wisdom and not Riches He was going to give him both. Mark of the Beast and Mark of Commerce

This is my first post, so please be patient if I screw up. . .

I read the article on the Mark of the Beast, and was struck by the passage concerning the use of the number 666 as a mark of commerce

It appears to me that the reference to commerce would be incomprehensible to any reader who was not, already, familiar with Revelation because it fails to cite, quote or even mention the relevant passage from Revelation 13: (the following quote is from the New International Version):

"He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name."

Rev. 13, verses 16-17.

Indeed, verses 16-17 are not mentioned at any point in the entire article about Mark of the Beast, but these two verses comprise about two-thirds of the Biblical material concerning the Mark of the Beast.Bonbga 16:21, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

The number 666 in the book of Revelation refers only to the United Nations Resolution 666. This concerned the first war in Irag. It restricts the goods that can be traded with Iraq. This is what the prophecy says - Nothing can be bought or sold without the mark of the beast. In other words only the goods sanctioned by the United Nations can be traded. The beast does not always refer to the Devil. In the book of Revelation some beasts are on the side of the Angels. The word "Beast" should be regarded as someone with power or authority. This is the position that the United Nations fulfils, it can decide whether there is War or Peace - surely the prelude to Armageddon. Another conection is that Babylon is mentioned several times in the book of Revelation. Babylon was the ancient capital of what is now present day Iraq and the ruins of Babylon are situated several miles from the present capital, Baghdad.

Is the number 666?

In Greek the number is χξς. The first and the third figure-letter Χς is used especially in byzantine icons to name Jesus Christ omitting the letters in between (Χ-ριστό-ς). Between Christ initials, stands the letter ξ, letter that resembles a snake, the Devil, forming the name/number of the Anti-Christ. (however, the text writes the WORDS "six-hundred and sixty-six" not the NUMBER "666"-- it is WRONG to talk about it as "666")

It can be both. Kenneth Gentry in his book "He Shall Have Dominion" shows how Nero's name in Hebrew was valued at 666. His Latin name in cryptic Numerology was calculated as 616. That is why different sources of Scripture have the different numbers. It depended on who translated the scripts. Apparently there was little doubt in the time period that John was warning Jerusalem about it's destruction in 69 AD and wrote so cryptically to protect himself and the bearers of the letters (not to mention the intended recipients. Nero was so terrible to Christians. This is the only theory that works for both 616 and 666. This does presuppose that Revalation was written well before 90 AD and more like in the 50's. Date of Writing

Not according to some. Many believe that the Book of Revelation was written during Nero's reign, and I don't think that there is convincing evidence to say otherwise. I suggest that this statement be altogether removed or otherwise edited. AC 04:18, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Revelation was written after Nero's death. The early Christians thought that Nero had settled on Patmos and was going to come back to persecute them further. It was an imposter. Nero was the Roman tyrant who is, and is not. Again, the early Christians thought Nero himself was coming back to persecute them further. JBDay 20:57, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

What's in a name?

The number 666 is a representation of the anti-christ, man wanting to become god. Alot of people bring up Nero having such a name, as a reaction of Revalations accounts for the anti-christ, and Revelations mearly being anti-Nero propaganda, during the period when Nero sacked Jerusalem.

(I saw the attempt to conflate Hitler to "666" in a cranky book of millenarian Christian prophecy that I do not endorse. It starts with A=100, B=101, C=102,...Z=125, and in it H+I+T+L+E+R = 666. Roman Catholic Reference and footnotes and undue weight.

I think appealing to reason and logic and reading the footnotes on The New Jerome Biblical Commentary and the research papers by Hillars means that this article should be revised to meet some form of due weight to these studies above the others. I feel the introduction is good because it directs the reader to the most rational reason for the code with facts to substantiate the hypothesis that is now a varifiable repeatable and consistant theory that John and his followers are using code for a Roman Emperior. Ok I think it fare that he be given voice for reasoning why but it doesn't look good so far especially since the citation above is quite accurate and contradicts the other interpretation which rejected the nero theory. Nobody ever seems to get this...

You have to go back to numerology to understand what the number really means. This is the way it was explained to me by a theologeon when I was a child. Meanings behind the numbers:

The numbering system only went up to 7(so it actually looks like 10). Base 7, get that? So 40 base 7 is actually 28. It rained for a month, BTW. Anyway back to 666, the original 666 is supposed to have multipication symbols between them like this: 6*6*6 This is because it actually is referencing two numbers above. 6 times 6 times 6 is 6 to the 3rd power. Six and 3! Six represents man, 3 represents godly power. So the lesson is simply: Beware of man achieving godly power. Man is currupted by power. A powerful man becomes like a BEAST intoxicated by that power. Don't over think this concept, it's really pretty simple.

The reason why the specific number 666 is relevant

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned already. 666 is the mark of the beast for 2 different reasons. First, 4 symbolizes man, and more specifically, God's love for man, because the Earth has 4 corners. The mark of the beast has 3 digits because the beast doesn't love man. Second, 7 symbolizes perfection, because God created Earth in 7 days. The mark of beast uses the digit 6 because the beast is imperfect.

So, God's number would be 7777, and the beast's is 666. The beast's is less than God's both in numerical value and in symbolical meaning.

I think this information should be added. Unfortunately I can't remember the exact cites for the meanings of 4 and 7, and am too busy to reference them now, but it's fairly common knowledge.

A legitimate religious ground for not taking these drugs would be the Christian Biblical teaching that the use of mind altering chemicals and poisons on someone is witchcraft. Witches used to exercise their control over others through a "magick spell" using secret mind altering chemicals. Or a witch would use something like deadly nightshade to poison someone. The psychiatrist witches want to turn you into Sleeping Beauty with a figurative poison apple, a neuroleptic antipsychotic drug. I also read in a medical book under one neuroleptic how the author described how easily Depakene could be added into the food of a "noncompliant patient".

The Bible book of Revelation states at chapter 21 verse 8 this: "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and the murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all the liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." Revelation 22:15 says: "For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murders, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie." These two scriptures are quoted out of the King James Version of the Holy Bible. The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures reads as follows: Revelation 21:8 "But as for the cowards and those without faith and those who are disgusting in their filth and murderers and fornicators and those practicing spiritism and idolaters and all the liars, their portion will be in the lake of fire that burns with fire and sulphur. This means the second death." Revelation 22:15 "Outside are the dogs and those who practice spiritism and the fornicators and the murderers and the idolaters and everyone liking and carrying on a lie."

To understand the root meaning of this word it will be necessary to look up the word sorcerers in The New Strong's Exhaustive Concordance Of The Bible (King James Version) by James Strong, LL.D., S.T.D. Copyright 1890. After finding the word sorcerers in the index you will see these two scriptures of Revelation listed. There will be two numbers which are 5332 and 5333 on the far right where sorcerers is indexed. You will need these numbers to locate the original Greek words in the Greek Dictionary in the back of this book. You will notice in this dictionary will be listed different grammatical forms of this Greek word from number 5331 to 5333. They are pharmakeia, pharmaeus, pharmakon, and pharmakos. These are the same Greek words that the English words pharmacy, pharmacist, pharmacology, pharmaceutical, pharmacist, phramacopoeia or pharmacopeia, etc. are derived from. In the dictionary at the back of this book it will say the Greek words above mean, druggist or poisoner, magic (magick), sorcerer, magician, witchcaft. If you are not a Christian and you are faced with involuntary drugging now would be a good time to convert. Speaking of reverts, I reverted your unexplained deletion of a sentence in the lead of the article. Please add desriptive edit summaries to all your edits. You removed what the actual "number of the beast" may be from the intro paragraph. I believe that this information is important to editors researching this topic, and feel it is perfectly acceptable for the intro paragraph. It clearly relates to the subject of 666 the number of the Beast being discussed here. You need to expand your theological knowledge and grasp of this subject. In the Bible book of Revelation the Harlot Babalon the Great Mystery Babalon is said to be riding this beast and she is said to be drunk with the blood of Holy Ones and Prophets and uses sorcery or spirtism to mislead the people of the nations. The original word translated sorcery and spirtism in some Bibles is the same Greek word we get the word "pharmacutical" which is a medicine. The Harlot is also said to be having fornication or elicit sex with the Kings of the Earth. Kings would be the rulars of the Earth. This fornication means they are sleeping together in the same bed so to speak. Cleary the pharmacutical and medical establishments are figuratively or metaphorically sleeping in the same bed with the governmental officials ruling this Earth. Some people sent to institutions labeled insane are actually prophets that the government and the corporate rulars want to suppress because they challenge the established order of things that protects the big merchants and corrupt governmental officials.

I suggest you research this subject in a Strong's Exhaustive Concordanance of the King James Bible. Look up sorcery and find the original Greek words in Revelation that are: pharmakeia, pharmaeus, pharmakon, and pharmakos. You may want to put these words into a Search Engine also to see what you may find.
