Talk:Norwich built-up area

Notability edit

Census tracts aren’t notable per WP:GEOLAND. Maps and statistics don’t constitute reliable sources for the purpose of notability. Are there any sources discussing this area in detail?--Pontificalibus 17:05, 11 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Quite a few there...would add more but seems these all come from Norwich Council themselves and other neighbouring districts

The council documents refer in passing to “Norwich urban area” and “Norwich fringe”, the former being the city plus the fringe. However this is quite different to the ONS-defined built-up area, e.g. it includes Cringleford and Drayton which the ONS area does not. There’s nothing here that wouldn’t be better explained in the context of the Norwich article, and indeed it already is nicely explained in the Demography section.--Pontificalibus 20:25, 11 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
The ONS-defined built-up area does include Cringleford and Drayton. One of the existing references in this article is a map that does actually show this. Regardless I agree that this would be better in the existing Norwich article. Eopsid (talk) 21:36, 11 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm I must be reading the map differently from you. Cringleford and Drayton clearly lie outside the thick black line. (edit) - ok I've finally got this map to work on my PC and see there are discrete parts of the Built-Up Area which are separated from the main part by open land. ----Pontificalibus 06:03, 12 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
