Why the name

Anyone know why there are called nipples? --njh 03:51, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

I think the image in the German article explains. When you screw it into a pipe, you have a nipple: whatever comes next in the plumbing can securely attach itself and take the fluids coming out, just like a baby :-) Ziounclesi (talk) 23:33, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

Nipple Length

At my local hardware store pipe nipples are sold based on their overall length, not the length of the unthreaded section as stated in the article. It may depend on the Standard they are manufactuted to. Seattle, WA, USA 67.183.177.34 01:34, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
