Feature list

Let's try and get a comprehensive list of features on this as soon as possible. There are still a lot of things that haven't been talked about yet. Where's the power button? I have seen on a sight that the new DS Lite system comes packed with a battery charge adaptor, and although I know it was from a respectable source, I cannot find the URL. If someone else has the time, search for a respectable source. I have no reason to doubt the battery used in the normal DS is suitable for the new one. It has decent life, and with the LCD brightness adjuster, shouldn’t it just help in extending the life?

IGN has stated “The modified dual screen handheld has been tweaked into a smaller chassis. The new unit measures up to 133 mm wide by 73.9 mm tall by 21.5 thick. (that's compared to 148.7 x 84.7 x 28.99 mm in the original.) DS Lite weighs 218g, compared to the 275 g of the original.”

This, to me, implies that the screen size remains the same. I’m still new to wiki, and I am pretty sure that implied facts can’t be listed, but wouldn’t a source state it being smaller if it was?

The battery of the Nintendo DS Lite, like the original Nintendo DS, is a lithium-ion battery not meant to be removed from the system, and it comes with an adapter. Nintendo would not suddenly switch to alkaline batteries after having released three models that don't use it.

I was told by a nintendo promotional officer, that ds lite came with a small 4g hard drive. Havent heard word of it since, but still want to check if true... Anyone know?

Buttons

Seems that someone is unable to see photographs, or never seen a Nintendo DS for real. The face buttons are A/B/X/Y. So the phrase The layout of the controls has been adjusted slightly, with the Start/Select buttons being moved to below the A/B/C/D buttons is wrong. --Olpus 01:23, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

Is the DS Lite really going to have no thumb strap? There are a lot of games where using the stylus would be much harder, Mario 64 DS for example. I think the article should mention that too. 87.254.64.74

More launch info?

Does anyone who speaks Japanese or is in Japan happen to know if stores in Japan have started taking pre-orders, or at what time they intend to open on the day of the launch? Not talking about import stores like Lik-Sang and Play Asia though that might be worth mentioning too.

This is the funniest thing I've read all week. It states that the points of a compass will still point north, south, east, and west. That's like saying "the DS will also obey the laws of gravity"

Abbreviated Name

To save the time of writing "DS Lite", thereby appeasing the masses, should we start referring to the Lite as the LDS? DSL is obviously taken. This isn't relevant to the article per say, but could be if the term becomes widespread. Or not.

Save time? You'd have to be REALLY lazy if you can't take the time to spell out "Lite"... It's just four letters!... Oh, wait, I forgot... This is the Internet. You may be a lawyer for all I know, and can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that means what you think it means. I believe that is standard text to indicate that Nintendo has warned the recipient and will not be held liable for any problems that may arise from the use of the images. This isn't so applicable to the consoles, and really only when the copyrights of another company are at issue, such as picture of a DS with Mickey Mouse displayed on the screen.

In addition, Nintendo makes it clear several sentences up, "the recipient may reproduce the Images without any alteration and solely for non-promotional, non-commercial and/or editorial purposes". This would be totally unnecessary if the images were truly free to be used for any and all purposes.

Added color section, reworked gallery area

As said above, I added a color section where I moved the pictures of the navy and ice Lite. I also added a few pictures to the gallery. If anyone doesn't like it then please say so. The rumor going around is the reason NEW Super Mario Bros. keeps getting pushed back a week in America is to have it coincide with the release of the DS Lite. Release the system redesign with a Mario title. Seems like a pretty wise business decision, huh? And the reason for the push backs to make sure the US stock isn't a problem like it is in Japan. Accessories

I'd like to point out that the Tilt-Sensor is NOT an accessory. It is built in to certain GBA Game Paks, and used only in those games. I think it's just Warioware Twisted and Yoshi Topsy-Turvy. I don't believe that a technology built into certian games should be counted as an accessory. That's like saying that the clock is and accessory for the Game Boy since it was included in the Pokemon Gold and Silver games. -- Grant 20:16, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

Adding info about the Opera webbrowser?

On February 15th, 2006 there was a http://www.opera.com/pressreleases/en/2006/02/15/ (press release) by http://opera.com/ (Opera software) stating that they would port their browser to the DS allowing people to surf the net with Opera on the DS. Would it be informative to add a little information about this on the DS lite page?

Box Contents

Would it be appropriate to add a list of what actually comes in the box, now that it's been released in the US and people actually, like, know? What was wrong with the original picture, I hate this "let's change the picture every week and no one says anything about it" accept of Wikipedia articles about game systems, look at the this [[2]] the Nintendo logo and the Nintendo DS are strangely missing and apparently I'm the only one who said anything about it. Feel free to find better free images. Wikipedia is not about having award-winning pictures. Dusty or not, it is an Xbox, we are not showing it for marketing, only identification purposes. Comparisons

I have both a Nintendo DS and a DS Lite and I took some pictures comparing the two to each other and looking at the differences. I'd be willing to put the pictures on this article if it helps with differentiating between the original and the Lite. What do you think? Image Gallery

The images we have are to be used until a replacement is avalible, and one is not. The pictures illustrate important points about the DS, and not free image I have seen does that while not looking unprofessional. I don't agree. You have added Image:DS 6.jpg, which can be replaced with Image:Nintendo DS Lite.jpg (which is already in the article). And you have also added Image:DS 7.jpg, which can be replaced with Image:Nintendo DS Lite closed.jpg, which is already in the article. Your image of the moved Select/Start buttons is quite good, but could be a little brighter.(This can be easily done in Photoshop) The one with the Moved stylus and Power button is quite blurry and needs to be much brighter, perhaps you should try taking the picture again. - Zero1328 _Talk? 05:24, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

I know... I wanted to upload the pics just to have something useable there, right now I will brighten them and replace the old ones with the bright ones. Also, taking a picture of the Lite often causes the flash to reflect off of the shiny white plastic, so I had to take it w/o the flash, causing both problems. The reference for this quote, which is marked as "16", leads to a site completely in Chinese. Has anybody got a reliable English source that could be used there?

Well, there is nothing about this on the mainstream media, and all the reports circulating on the gaming sites apparently trace back to that Sina article. Release Date

Contradiction

At the end of the article, it says that a BLACK DS lite shipment had been stolen, yet in Nintendo's response to that, they say that WHITE lites had been stolen... Which is it? DarkCat 23:29, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

Standard

most likely the original ds will eventually just disappear from the shelves once they are all sold out with no real date given, kind of like the original gameboy advance. considering the ds lite is the same price as the original ds, there isn't much of a reason for nintendo to keep making the old model. Father's Day Sale

I removed the following paragraph from the article, as I don't think it's necessary to mention a sale. (If it was, should we then have details every time about when every store has a sale on the DS?)
