Marginal page edit
To Sunlitsky and perhaps Beland. During WP:NPP I have checked this page. It is currently just a minor mention with very little information of general use. As such it is definitely a candidate for deletion via WP:AfD if it is not substantially improved. It probably should not have been directly created without being peer reviewed first. - @Ldm1954: A brief definition with little other information is exactly what a stub is supposed to be. I generally just let them grow unless there's reason to suspect the topic is not notable or it's only here because of a commercial interest. We certainly don't require peer review before creating new articles; that's what doomed Nupedia. BTW, Wikipedia:Notability (academics) is the wrong guideline for notability on this article; it only applies to people doing academic work.
- That said, this topic was already covered at Sonic boom, which is why I made a redirect there. @Sunlitsky: Is this topic of interest in cases other than sonic booms? -- Beland (talk) 03:03, 27 April 2024 (UTC)

- Hi, @Ldm1954: and Beland, I changed the original redirect to sonic boom since the topic N-wave is a generic topic in gas dynamics with sonic boom being one situation the N-wave appears. - I am not enthused by this plan. You replaced a link to a well constructed page by a stub that both ignored the sonic boom page and has little useful encyclopedic content for a novice. Since you are knowledgeable about this I think a good approach is to add the few extra sentences needed to make this more than a dictionary, and a topic notable enough for inclusion in Wikipedia.
