Xutos' "citation needed"

Actually, no, no citation is needed regarding the statement that Xutos e Pontapés are known to everyone in Portugal. The status of the band has similarities to that of the Rolling Stones (with a lot less money, though): unless you're a hermit, you've heard of them even if you don't like their music. They're one of those bands.

The citations policy in Wikipedia is all very fine but risks becoming ridiculous if taken too far. You don't need a citation to the claim that clear skies on the Earth are blue, now do you? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 89.180.64.37 (talk) 13:56, 7 May 2007 (UTC).

Instruments

Portuguese music has spawned a whole collection of more or less unique instruments, particularly in its folk music tradition. I see the Portuguese guitar is mentioned briefly under Fado, but no mention is made of the Lisbona and Coimbra variants. And what of the instruments of the Azores: viola de arame; viola de braga; viola da terra; viola da Terceira; and at least another half-dozen variants? these instruments are found nowhere else, and each is connected with certain particular styles of music.
