  • "Director of Danish Industry Thomas Bustrup sees the visit as a clear signal that Denmark can effectively become the base of the UN Museum. [...] 'It can help to ensure that people around the world are aware of how seriously Danish companies and Denmark generally take the UN's global goals and that we can help solve some of the challenges outlined by the world goals,; says Thomas Bustrup. https://www.dr.dk/nyheder/indland/ban-ki-moon-moeder-mulige-donorer-i-koebenhavn-faar-vi-et-fn-museum

f) TEDx talk, "A global museum built from the bottom up" by co-founder Michael Edson, published September 16, 2016 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFo75nnMTcA

Possible quotes to frame the concept of the museum:

  • On the purpose of the institution:

"to imagine a new kind of institution that would advance and support the work of the UN - - not from the top down, through governments and treaties and diplomacy between nations - - the UN already does that - - but by adding to that capacity from the bottom-up, by connecting ordinary people to the mission of the UN, and to each other, through a global museum."

  • On the design and concept for engagement:

"UN Live would need exhibitions, but it would also be a gathering place, a lab, a hub, a creative place space, and a civic classroom that would invite the public to learn with their minds and their senses - - not just as spectators, but as full participants in the UN’s mission, whether they were in Copenhagen or Buenos Aires or anywhere in the world."

Dear Mpedson, thanks for these references. Through these 4 edits I have included much of the content you've suggested: Added several news references, changed the name (and also changed the logo!), added two 'external video' items, and linked to several more publications from the organisation itself. [And, I'm writing this while the Danish anthem is playing at the beginning of the country's first match in the men's football world cup!] Sincerely, Wittylama 15:56, 16 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

edit

  1. Note that there's a new logo/visual identity for the museum: see the logo at top left of http://unlivemuseum.org.
  2. There's a new (since the last edit) Global Advisory Committee consisting of 8 individuals, including former Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. https://www.unlivemuseum.org/#globalleadership
  3. Good interview/overview of the museum in the Italian Artribune magazine, issue #45: https://www.artribune.com/magazine/artribune-magazine-45/, with an English free/online version at https://medium.com/@mariaelenacolombo/museum-digital-matter-interview-with-michael-edson-museum-for-the-united-nation-un-live-7cb2850e4977
  4. re: the location of the UN Live building, there's a statement about it being part of UN City. This is not factually accurate (or, at least, I can't find a source for that!) and should be removed. I'll try to dig up a news media source or published doc that makes a better statement
  5. Michael Edson's role at the Smithsonian was "Director of Web and New Media Strategy". I think a trustworthy source for this would be the Library of Congress blog: https://blogs.loc.gov/thesignal/2012/08/digital-strategy-catches-up-with-the-present-an-interview-with-smithsonians-michael-edson/

Thanks!
