Boundry Changes

edit

Something to keep an eye on City of Bayswater is currently surveying residents of Mount Lawley about the possibilty of shire boundary realignment which will result in the suburb being solely under the City Vincent. Gnangarra 10:51, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Exclusive

edit

"Mount Lawley is an exclusive residential suburb for established wealthy and professional families" - I don't agree with the usage of the words in this sentence. Until fairly recently Mount Lawley was not considered fashionable, exclusive, or wealthy. Also "Exclusive" connotes an exclusion of groups of individuals. Anyone growing up in Mount Lawley in the past will have a widely differing view of this sentence. Wampusaust 03:43, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Depends on which part of Mount Lawley. This was a fairly elite area in the distant past (Mt Lawley politically was safe Liberal until the 1980s) and the incomes are still higher than average according to the census ($630 compared to $565 in Maylands, $575 in North Perth and $516 across the City of Stirling generally). I agree, Mount Lawley is an expensive suburb, I just don't like the word "exclusive", and the phrasing of the sentence, including "for established wealthy and professional families" - I just don't think it's accurate or fair on the rest of us who either grew up there or live there now. Significant Rewrite - August 2012

edit

Hi all, this article looked like it needed some work so I've given it a go. I don't generally write for Wikipedia, so if you see anything that could do with polishing, go for it. I've moved some information around, added new sections where appropriate, taken out the weasel words and removed information that was apocryphal or otherwise unverifiable. Hopefully this will get this article back on track; hoping to write the Highgate entry (a stub) next. Helenabella (talk) 13:45, 4 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Nice work! I wrote some comments on your talk page before noticing this message. Graham87 15:44, 4 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Not bad generally. Two quibbles: I'm not sure why you removed the paragraph about the Heritage Protection Area, and some of the new additions to the history section are a bit fragmented. The Drover's Wife (talk) 15:35, 16 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
