Ambiguity - please clarify edit

In the paragraph I have grouped under section heading 'Amenities' occurs this sequence of sentences. The last sentence begins ambiguously as it is uncertain to the reader whether they are meant to infer the Monkmoor Recreation Ground is behind the site of the defunct school or the functioning primary school and academy:

There is a primary school, The Wilfred Owen School, and a specialist academy. There was formerly a secondary school in the suburb, however it closed in the 20th century and is now a listed building.
