Talk:Modena Codex

Article title edit

Hi -- Thanks for creating this really important page. I'd recommend moving this page to something like "Modena A (music manuscript)" or something more specific for ModA itself. There are at least two musical manuscripts commonly called the "Modena Codex" (Mod B being the other) and I'm sure there are others in fields other than music. Thanks! -- Michael Scott Cuthbert (talk) 10:58, 26 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Not a bad idea. I was hoping to create a ModB page fairly soon anyhow, so maybe once that happens we can move them both and make "Modena Codex" a dab page. Dohn joe (talk) 15:20, 26 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
That'd be great. Feel free to make the move. In the meantime I'll make some small contributions to the article itself. Best, -- Michael Scott Cuthbert (talk) 12:05, 27 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Anne Stone as editor. edit

Anne Stone is definitely the editor of the commentary volume of Mod A. The LOC record is "The manuscript Modena, Biblioteca estense, a.M.5.24 : commentary / Anne Stone ; with an essay on the illumination by Federica Toniolo." The facsimile volume has no editor listed. Its full title with author is simply "Il codice α.M.5.24 (ModA)." Milano, Ernesto wrote the preface, but is not listed as the editor. He is an expert on the Estense library, but not a musicologist. -- Michael Scott Cuthbert (talk) 07:15, 13 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Stoessel additions edit

Astute readers will note that a new user Jjstoessel just edited the article including supporting one of the new arguments with reference to an article by Jason Stoessel. Just wanted to head off in advance any suspicions about COI, etc. -- what he added is accepted in the field and now well supported with cites in the article (his own theory points more towards Bologna, but readers will note that it is merely listed as one of three possible origins in the article). Quite often users adding their own articles are POV pushers who don't have the best interests of WP at heart. That is decidedly not the case here -- his edits definitely improve the article and keep it neutral. Welcome, Jason ! -- Michael Scott Cuthbert (talk) 15:27, 9 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
