This proposed categorization does not depend on whether any owners in Dubai use their midwakh for cannabis. Rather, it offers relevant information to readers who consult the Category: Cannabis smoking page to find information about safe, economical low-temperature choices among smoking equipment, (and thus avoid smoking methods that burn too hot, destroy herbal ingredient value, and cause health issues).Tokerdesigner (talk) 00:54, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is for verifiable facts. Find a reliable source discussing the specific use of the midwakh for smoking cannabis and it will be relevant to the article. Otherwise it is not. Wikipedia is not a how-to guide for anything, let alone drug use. — Hex (❝?!❞) 21:07, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
- Hex's point illustrates a dilemma, that while WP is not a how-to guide, certain titles, Cannabis smoking, Category:Cannabis smoking etc. do overtly offer readers how-to guide information, and readers respond-- as shown by the WP article being at the top of listings for "Cannabis smoking" on google! To say those large populations of readers are not looking for how-to would be preposterous.
- Suggestions:
- include midwakh in the [[:Category:Cannabis smoking]. This does nothing to make WP a how-to guide or load exhortations into articles, merely it services readers in a discreet, decent, honorable way, permitting those interested to find out about small (limited dosage, such as 25-mg. per serving) pipes to use instead of hot-burning "traditional" commercial smoking methods. Midwakh is one of those, along with kiseru, one-hitters etc.
- include in the midwakh article and in numerous others associated with smoking cannabis, tobacco or any herb, references to wikiHow articles, including ones showing how to make a proper screen for a midwakh or other small pipe, how to make a one-hitter etc. This does NOT make WP a how-to guide, rather Wikipedia:NOTHOWTO expressly recommends readers seeking such info to go to wikiHow; NOTHOWTO also does NOT forbid use of wikiHow as a reference link. In fact referring such readers to wikiHow articles actually helps prevent the danger of using Wikipedia as a how-to guide. If those wikiHow articles (especially the diagrams, which are critical evidence that the option for low dosage servings, in the face of hype for the "joint" etc., actually exists) are not sufficiently encyclopedic for Wikipedia, WP editors can go to wikiHow, sign in, take a username, and edit and improve those articles as needed.
- the smear "drug use" is sort of gratuitous. To the point: trying to help readers find information about 25-mg. serving-size smoking utensils as alternative to hot-burning 500-mg. "joints" is a decisive movement away from drug use. (Consider alone the massive reduction in carbon monoxide dosage.)
- if Hex wants to do something bigtime about how-to-guide stuff on WP, he should take a look at the huge swollen Smoking pipe articles, with tobacco use how-to-guide info in quantities which are nowhere tolerated in the cannabis-related articles.
