Isn't a similar technique used in video compression? edit
Don't many video compression algorithms use a very similar approach (only rendering the full frame when there are significant changes, and distorting parts of the frames when there is motion between key frames) ? --TiagoTiago (talk) 20:22, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
