Genre: Nerdcore hip hop
editI recently changed the genre of this album from Underground hip hop to Nerdcore hip hop. It was reverted for being "negative or controversial biographical material". Although some people may not enjoy nerdcore, it is no more negative to call an album "nerdore" than it is to call it "country" or any other genre for that matter. There's always going to be some musical taste that someone doesn't like. That being said, MC Chris himself has said both negative and positive things about the nerdcore genre. He often does not identify himself as nerdcore although almost any website on the genre will mention him. He also makes an appearance in Nerdcore for Life, a documentary about nerdcore (see the featured artist list). Lastly, the vast majority of his albums are labeled as nerdcore on Wikipedia. Just because an artist does or does not identify themselves with a particular genre does not make their music more or less part of that genre. Nerdcore is hip-hop about traditionally "nerdy" topics (which I realize is highly subjective). This album features tracks on ninjas, zombies, nerds, nerd subculture, being an outcast, and more. It is filled with nerdcore themes. If MC Chris called it an R&B record or a Bluegrass record, that wouldn't make it so.
