untitled edit

User:68.148.165.213 nominated this page for speedy deletion giving the reason "Men are not the only people who are & can be professional craftspeople;please make a new article and destroy the sexism;; also, I'm not sure if the intial captial of Master is correct, not to mention the sexism; please tag it, I don't know how". I've moved the comment here, it's definitely not a reason for deletion! The Land 17:24, 15 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I propose a move to Master craftsperson, please. By the way, please do not rv my edits. I worked hard. If you have beef, please send me a message.100110100 08:47, 5 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
As I've balanced the sexism, I'll move the article, per presumed consent.100110100 08:52, 5 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Look, on wikipedia we use PROPER english, none of that "womyn" or "garbage person" belongs here. The fact that women have nothing worse to complain about than how sexist words are proves to me that they are no longer being oppressed and we can finally DROP all that stuff. Oh or should men complain about how "mother earth" is sexist, or how "nanny" is associated exclusively with women when men are just as capable of taking care of children. 67.71.95.8 (talk) 18:40, 29 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

=No guilds in US?

What about Screen Actor's guild? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.80.134.205 (talk) 10:09, 24 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

I would also like to point out that the USAF uses the helper/apprentice/journeyman/craftsman designation for skill levels (numerically flagged as 1/3/5/7 respectively).Comnavchaos (talk) 16:52, 22 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Readability edit

I found the section on Germany rather difficult to read. Too many parenthesis are very distracting. --75.68.181.68 (talk) 16:22, 16 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sources edit

This page could use sources for example "Some people claim that this restriction limits free enterprise initiative and thus fosters the current high unemployment rate in Germany" What people? and So what? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.152.34.118 (talk) 21:01, 12 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fachhochschule edit

In the last paragraph a Master Craftsman is seen equivalent to a person who is a "Fachhochschule" graduate. This is not true. Fachhochschule awards Bachelor and Masters degrees equal to university degrees. Fachhochschule has nothing to do with vocational education. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.114.15.54 (talk) 16:16, 7 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Poorly chosen image edit

This article is about the European system of craftsmen, so why would there be a painting of craftsmen from India? Did they have the same guild system there? The article doesn't mention India at all. The artwork wasn't even painted by a European. Does anyone know of a better image representing European master craftsmen, or the guild system? OakMiner (talk) 04:25, 1 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Lede is contradictory edit

The lede claims that masters and journeymen could join the guild, but also says that journeymen who fail to qualify as masters aren't allowed in the guild. That seems contradictory, unless it means the journeymen who fail to qualify get expelled from the guild, in which case that should be made clear. Iapetus (talk) 12:10, 19 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
