Neutrality

I believe the representation of Master P's music lacks neutrality. While it qualifies its critisisms, it doesn't really offer differing views. I would argue that the vast majority of the music by master p and No Limit Records reflects southern trends much more than it does west coast trends. I certainly wouldn't support the claim that master p has in any way imitated Dr. Dre. Furthermore, if you look at the issue from the standpoint of whether he has done more imitating of others than others have done of him, I think any neutral party would agree that he has been imitated much more than he has actually imitated others.Wbbigtymer 21:56, 27 November 2005 (UTC)

Remove Legal woes section

I removed :

Master P and Miller were arrested in Los Angeles on the University of California, Los Angeles campus on January 27, 2005, after police found two handguns in the car. They were ordered to stand trial on February 27, 2006, and face a maximum sentence of 3 years if convicted.

Remove Bow Wow vs. No Limit

I removed :

Master P steps to Bow Wow. Talk about picking on someone your own size. P at least has 20 years, two feet and 150 pounds on Bow. Hot 97's Miss Info reported that Master P recently approached Bow backstage at Nickelodeon's Kid's Choice Awards in Los Angeles. Word is P didn't look like he was in a spanking mood. With several No Limit goons in tow, P stepped to Bow about dissing his son Lil Romeo on "Fresh Azimiz." The New Orleans rapper was apparently particularly ticked off by Bow saying, "I'm 18 and making more than your dad" in the song. Word is Bow kept calm and replied, "Actually the song ain't about you, but if the shoe fits..."

article quality

For an artist of this stature, I honestly think this article has much room for improvement. I would like to bring it up to the quality of the Ludacris or Eminem pages. If anyone has ideas on how to go about this or has the urge to go ahead and do it, please do. I've been watching and making minor edits to this article for a while now, and some of the constants I've noticed as the article has gone through changes are 1)lots of unsourced claims, 2)lots of POV statements (often libelous), 3)Poor writing quality, and 4)outdated information.Wbbigtymer 04:53, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

vandalism

It's still a joke (kinda like Master P{Nis}, but that's a whole other issue).

It bothers me that for the most part, the article is entirely biased for Master P. It speaks too highly of him as if he were, and always has been, a pioneer of such a noble cause. What annoys me the most is the section of films that he has been in. According to the article Master P has "starred" in movies with other stars. It even states he starred opposite Harrison Ford, when it was actually Josh Hartnett who did so. No mention of Master P the sports agent??

Does this sound biased?

I posted the WP:AD. I believe that the writer of this article does not understand the concept of neutrality, or skeptacism. several so-called "facts" are fatally flawed (eg: father of southern rap? ...please...) I think this article should be reduced to a stub, and then rebuilt. Very little of the current article should survive the rebuild. It is unsourced, biased, and poorly written. It reads more of a PR mailer than an encyclopedic entry. Andyparkerson 10:52, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

No Limit Records CEO and founder Percy "Master P" Miller is making an effort to transform his image and label, by vowing to turn away from using negative lyrics in the music he makes. "Personally, I have profited millions of dollars through explicit rap lyrics," Miller said in a statement. "I can honestly say that I was once part of the problem and now it's time to be part of the solution. I am ready to take a stand by cleaning up my music and follow my son's footsteps and make a clean rap album."

Miller's declaration comes amid recent criticism of rap music for negative and degrading images.

The Revs. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson as well as talk show host Oprah Winfrey have made headlines for their roles in confronting the issue.

As a result, Miller is determined to make a change.

"Al Sharpton and Oprah Winfrey are absolutely right! It's time for us to take a stand and be responsible for our own actions," the mogul said. "I am willing to accept my responsibility. Hip-Hop is about our neighborhoods, the reality of what is going on within them, and dreaming big."

Miller is putting his new outlook into focus with the creation of his new record label, Take A Stand Records.

The company, which is co-founded by the rapper's son Romeo, is currently looking for "Hip-Hop artists with street music without offensive lyrics," according to Miller, who added that a nationwide talent search will be held through his new reality television show, America's Next Hip-Hop Stars.com. I THINK THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT AND SHOULD BE ADDED.

Not a reliable source, find a better one

"The initiative is the only recording label committed to signing and promoting hip-hop artists with responsible image and lyrics." This statement is not true regarding the label. There have been plenty of labels, solely hip hop, that only focus on edification with more than capable lyricists. Crossmovement Records has been doing this for more than 10 years. You also have Reach Records and Lamp Mode along with others as well. These artists and labels have been doing this with success worldwide just like their more negative counterparts, but with little to no BET or MTV recognition. Therefore when it's said that Master P's move is the only one it is not only incorrect, but takes away from the work the other artists have been doing for years. WCW Career

There is absolutely no mention of P's short lived, yet influential wrestling career with the WCW. I don't belive he actually fought anyone, but he started a stable and was integral to the overall plot in 98. Critical reception/criticism

Seriously? No section for this, nothing? This talentless hack almost single-handedly destroyed New Orleans' long history of producing innovative, great music, and served as a general indicator of the decline of commercial rap after the deaths of Biggie and Pac. This article is still plagued with poor English and poorly organized data. How exactly is it that someone having a segment called Master P's Theater a controversy? This doesn't belong at all. Even if the segment was controversial, it belongs in the article for that show.
