Edited to remove the distinction between "kohanga reo" as the English word and "kōhanga reo" as the te reo word. Correct usage in New Zealand English requires the appropriate use of standard macrons, as discussed at the Maori Language talk page. Labellementeuse (talk) 00:00, 29 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

The only reason hardly anyone spoke maori is because the pakeha wouldn't let them.my grandparents were given the strap for speaking a single word in Maori.
