GA review (see here for what the criteria are, and here for what they are not)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
a (prose, spelling, and grammar):   b (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (reference section):   b (citations to reliable sources):   c (OR):   d (copyvio and plagiarism):
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects):   b (focused):
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images and other media, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free content have fair use rationales):   b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:

Lead

  • Lead does not mention developer or publisher.
  • Mizuguchi is mentioned in such a way that suggests readers should know his name, but this is his first mention in the article.
  • Should mention its release earlier, before the gameplay, but simplify it to 2006 in EU and NA and 2007 in Japan.
  • I'm not 100% comfortable removing the month. I'm ok with the day. but I think the month is still relevant.
  • "New features introduced," > "New features introduced;"
  • I reworded it
  • It still feels a little awkward in its current state.
  • All of the staff in the infobox, Mizuguchi and Yokota aside, is unsourced and not mentioned in the article. Should either be removed or sourced and utilized in the body.
  • Lead does not identify what platform it was released on.
  • It being a sequel should not be mentioned in the very first sentence.
  • "the song selection received a mixed reaction with some reviewers not enjoying the inclusion of American songs and others welcomed them." > "...of American songs, with others welcoming them."
  • No mention of the demo released on Windows or the PSP demo in the lead.
  • I'm not entirely sure it's that relevant. It's a demo, and not an actual release of the game.

Gameplay

  • Does the manual claim that it and its predecessor use the same core gameplay or that the features are new to it?
  • Specify that Lumines is its predecessor.
  • IGN source for Enduro mode does not appear to have Enduro mode referenced. Additionally, I can't find information in the link about no time limit or access to all skins.
  • Does the manual identify that Challenge Mode, Time Attack, Puzzle, VS. CPU, and 2P VS Mode were in the original?
  • Does the manual identify that the 2P VS Mode's name was changed?
  • Does the manual identify that the Mission Mode, Skin Edit Mode, and Sequencer are new?
  • I implemented reviews that covered that information and not relied on the manual as much. The Manual actually does indicate that Duel Mode is the new name for 2P VS Mode.
  • Inconsistent use of sequencer vs. Sequencer
  • Inconsistent use of player vs. players
    • I noticed the use of "player" in the Reception and lead sections.
  • Improper capitalization of "players" in the third paragraph

Development

  • Who is Tetsuya Mizuguchi? The infobox identifies him as producer, but the article itself doesn't specify his role.
  • Try to diversify how you refer to Mizuguchi. Ideally you should avoid overusing it as the beginning of the sentence, particularly twice in a row.
  • Yokota is only identified in the body without their full name and without identifying their role in development.
  • Italicize Lumines II
  • It says that it initially was going to have 100 songs; is this the number of songs the game ended up having? If so, remove initially, as it implies that something changed.
  • Based on the information, the 100 songs were a guesstimate. I have been looking for the complete song/skin list of Lumines II, but could not confirm myself.
  • No mention of the company behind the game's development.
  • "For the original development" > "For the development"
  • No mention of the release platform, except for a brief reference to it in abbreviated form. Please specify what it was developed for.
  • The last sentence feels somewhat promotional, and should either be formatted in such a way that it feels like a quotation or made to be more neutral feeling.

Promotion and release

  • "...released a demo titled," > "...released a demo titled"
  • "On the Japanese release" > "Upon the Japanese release"
  • "Music artist Suigirumn whose music was featured in the Japanese version of Lumines II" > "Music artist Suigirumn, whose music was featured in the Japanese version of Lumines II,"
  • Attendants > Attendees
  • Should rearrange so that the launch party follows the mention of the Japanese release date, otherwise it feels out of wack.
  • Does the source identify the release date as being "much later"? Much seems like a subjective declaration.
  • "artists such as Ken Ishii, Genki Rockets, and Def Tech, however, removed" > "artists such as Ken Ishii, Genki Rockets, and Def Tech, while removing"
  • "receive Deluxe version" > "receive the Deluxe version"
  • Is 'Avatar' meant to be capitalized in this case?
  • From my understanding, Heavenly Star is an album, not a song. Correct me if I am wrong there, I just am not sure what a "single for the song" would refer to.
  • What was the name of the single?
  • Heavenly Star is a song, and a single was released. There is no full studio album. I clarified that it was a single.
  • Did Takayuki Nakamura compose the music for this game? If so, mention this in the development, lead, and infobox, should you have sources for this
  • Working on it.

Reception

  • The Reception section should open with the summary of its reception + reference to how it fared in Metacritic.
  • Try to rely less on straight up quotations, lean towards summaries instead.
  • IGN criticism lacks proper punctuation
  • "Positive feedback" implies customer reaction, change it to be about praise or a good review or something along those lines.
  • "...rather than reinvent itself and fix what wasn't broken" "...rather than reinvent itself needlessly."
  • "...gave the game a favorable review although" > "...gave the game a favorable review, although"
  • "In contrast, Edge was critical of the game. In particular, Edge criticized the music video levels for the background skins being inspired by the video instead of the songs." > "In contrast, Edge was critical of the game for its music video levels due to the background skins being influenced by the videos instead of the songs." May also be worthwhile to mention their criticism of the game being both "conflicting familiarity and bloat."
  • I'll attempt to incorporate the conflicting familiarity and bloat.
  • "When reviewing the song selection, it received mixed reviews." > "The song selection received mixed reviews."
  • "Eurogamer was more critical and were also aimed particularly at the choice of including western songs into the game and the original was the better option." > "Eurogamer was more critical, criticizing the inclusion of western songs, calling the original game the better option."
  • ...but didn't consider the addition to ruin the game." "...but felt it didn't ruin the game."
  • "GameSpot noted that the new soundtrack may scoff at the new notable artists," > "GameSpot noted that Lumines fans may be put off by newer artists,"
  • "GameDaily stated that the songs from the "tried-and-true" music artists were considerably old and don't have the same impact from when initially released, however, noted that the songs work well with the overall theme and feel of the game." > "GameDaily stated that the songs from the "tried-and-true" music artists were considerably old and didn't have the same impact from when initially released, while noting that the songs work well with the overall feel of the game."
  • GamePro's review is mentioned in the aggregate template, but not in the text.

References

  • The GamesRadar+ review is linked in two different citations
  • The reason why they're linked was because its multiple pages, and i linked the specific page. if you think that's unnecessary, i can reduce it to one.

Images

  • The caption should read "the "Heavenly Star" music video"
  • Gameplay screenshot offers neither an argument for why it's not replaceable, nor a demonstration of its respect for commercial opportunities
  • Be sure to give a reason for its use; rather than simply representing the gameplay, it's beneficial to say, for instance, that the screenshot is being used to demonstrate gameplay, UI, and the music video backgrounds.

@Abryn: sorry for the delay. i'm almost done with everything. I'll let you know when i get it all complete. it shouldn't take me too long. I do realize the gameplay relied a little too much on the manual, so i'll use the reviews to give more clarity. Let me know if you see anything that i addressed and wasn't properly fixed to your standards.Blue Pumpkin Pie Chat Contribs 19:14, 22 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Abryn: I believe i addressed 90% of your concerns. if there's something that i missed or is vital for GA pass, please let me know. I'm not intentionally neglecting any points you made.Blue Pumpkin Pie Chat Contribs 15:46, 28 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
I know you're not, I've just been a little ill. I see you've addressed most of it, and have made some extra comments on things I feel have been missed, also adding an extra thing under Images. Also, I think IGN and GameDaily review quotations could be summarized more. - Bryn (talk) (contributions) 18:53, 28 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Abryn: i believe i completed what you asked. i did attempt to summarize GameDaily and IGN's review, but if the wording is off let me know and i'll fix it. Hopefully i addressed all your concerns. Blue Pumpkin Pie Chat Contribs 16:59, 5 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
