Talk:List of wards of Zimbabwe (2008)

There is only a map here. The map was labelled "municipalities of Zimbabwe" on the original edit, but it is not clear what the map shows:

  • In some areas, eg south-western Zimbabwe or Matabeleland South, the divisions on the map are municipal wards, ie third level administrative divisions.
  • In some areas, eg Chihota the subdivision is the entire district (second level administrative divisions)
  • In some areas, eg Zambezi Valley the divisions are administrative components of the national parks system
  • In some areas, eg Hwange the divisions represent all the components of the national parks system and forest land in a district
  • Urban local government areas (the only administrative divisions known as municipalities in Zimbabwe) are shown as one division each, although they have separate wards, which is the level sometimes marked out on the map in rural areas.

In summary the map is not accurate, and since it is the only thing on the page, maybe it should be deleted. Babakathy 18:41, 9 August 2007 (UTC) I did try to improve the language slightly, but I do not think it can be saved. Babakathy 18:43, 9 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

More than a map now. The map is accurate. The municipalities are not formally organized at the administrative level - that is, there are unincorporated areas, etc. Rarelibra 19:19, 9 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Improvements edit

This is a huge improvement, great! However, the following Districts of Zimbabwe still do not have municipal wards marked on the map:

  • Chikomba
  • Hwedza
  • Marondera
  • Mwenezi
  • Umguza

Get me a good resource, if you could, and I will update the map. It is sometimes a miracle that I can get what little information I can - for example, maps of Syria, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of the Congo, etc. Do you know of a good source? Rarelibra 20:05, 9 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I have some suitable shapefiles, but must check IP issues; will get back to you. Babakathy 20:24, 9 August 2007 (UTC)(Zimbabwe only, in case it sounded more exciting than that). Babakathy 20:25, 9 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Like the new map. Babakathy 20:28, 9 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
