Recent removal of Medina sandstone

Hello. I would like to discuss the January 9 removal of Medina sandstone from the United States section of this list by editor Bahudhara. The reason given was (Rm - not used economically). I would like to better understand editor Bahudhara's reasoning behind the change, but also try to provide some evidence that the removal should be undone.

Medina sandstone is no longer quarried, but for more than 100 years in the 1800s and early 1900s stone from more than 50 local quarries was utilized widely in the northeast US. The List of sandstones is intended to list "..types of sandstone that have been or are used economically as natural stone for building and other commercial or artistic purposes."

We have compiled data on over 200 buildings constructed primarily of Medina sandstone - many of which are of architectural and historical significance. In a more utilitarian vein Medina sandstone paved the streets and sidewalks of many US cities and also the streets of Havanna,Cuba before the advent of concrete and asphalt.

I'm a new Wikipedia editor and hesitant to undo editor Bahudhara's change without further discussion. I look forward to any thoughts and advice. THANKS! --StoneEverlasting (talk) 15:33, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

After receiving no comments, I've inserted Medina sandstone in the list, along with a reference citing the extent and importance of the quarries in Orleans County. Building Stone of New York State 1888

US Brownstones inclusion?

As brownstone is a type of sandstone, is there a reason why various types of commercial "brownstone" from the USA are not listed here? AtomicSource (talk) 07:34, 29 April 2024 (UTC)

I noticed this because the Brownstone article lists several Types (some with their own articles), like Hummelstown brownstone; but none of them are listed here, as far as I can tell. AtomicSource (talk) 07:40, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
